Do you sell “pieces”, “meters”, “feet”, “kilos” or “lbs”?

Being able to show your customers what they are buying is important. Especially in eCommerce. For some reason, that has gone by more or less ignored by many tools and services out there. These tools still assume that all products are sold in “pieces”.

Why?

Well, mostly because that these platforms are intended for B2C sales where customers usually buy “pieces”. In B2B eCommerce and wholesale in general, it’s very different. If you add the amount of verticals and how differently they operate in terms of the customers they work with and the type (and units) of product they sell.

At Turis, we didn’t want our users to be locked to this “pieces” approach where every product and how they are measured is the same because it obviously affects the customer experience, when a wholesale account buys in “pieces” but receives the product in a completely different unit.

As a result, we offer brands to sell their products in the unit of measure relevant for that particular product. Not on a global platform setting, but a setting on the specific product.

Will I be limited to a pre-defined selection of units?

No. You can create exactly the units that are relevant to your business and you can assign each and every one of them to the individual unit that is needed for the particular product (and for your customer purchasing it).

By using the right (and relevant) Unit of Measure your customers will get a much more informative buying experience when shopping wholesale with you. On top of that they’ll also receive the products they purchase in the shape and format they expect.
